Claim New Worlds by tigaer Claim New Worlds by tigaer
Now this one has quite a history and it would be far too much to put into this innocent little description here. So if you are interested in backstory please head over here. Let me just say that one of the parts I rendered for this pic took almost 300 hours to finish. It was a little unexpected and crazy.

Initially I wanted to play around and try myself on some 3d abstract work. I created some 3d models via Xenodream and tossed them into Vue. It didn't work out really well but spawned some ideas for a scene and I decided to combine my 3d abstract idea with some Scifi. I really had some pressure here since I did not want to have these 300 hours wasted. I had a plan for this pic right from the beginning, but you never know how it turns out until you saw it. So I'm happy that at least the 300 hours were not wasted and I managed to do something nice with it. =D

If you ask me about what we’re seeing in the scene I couldn’t give you a direct answer. From my point of view it’s a deep space exploration endeavour having fun exploring a weird planet. But is it a planet? Maybe it’s a giant asteroid field hanging in some sort of very dense nebula cloud thing? It could also be a secret pirate operation and the big ship is a sort of mobile base/hiding place. A friend of mine even said the rock formations could be molecules or DNA string like stuff. I leave it to your imagination and really hope you enjoy the view. Seriously! I really hope you enjoy it! .oO(300 damn hours... my gawd)

Thanks out to some friends and luminariumgames, MichaelMagin, David Luong for some finishing advice.

Nothing should take 300 hours to render if its a still frame... anyways cool pic nonetheless ;)

They remind me of dinosaur skeletons, perhaps a stegosaurus =p It goes well with the deep orange sunset, which seems to fit equally into both prehistoric and futuristic scenes but never in the present :D

Fantastic work as usual. To me, the abstract shapes look like a the remains of a colony of some sort of alien creatures, or perhaps a vast single creature.

This is mindblowingly amazing. The ridges make me think of the backbone of some ancient monstrous creature that died a rather epic and tragic death during a long forgotten era.

Actually I never stopped. It just takes me a lot of time finishing up projects and so it comes that there happen to be quite some gaps between submissions. =)
