Alright. Here we are. This was the largest project for quite a while now. A lot of experimenting went into this monster. Trial and error... as usual. The scene shows quite an epic futuristic cityscape and this time actually no big story behind it. Just the imagination of mine that always wants to see such big and amazing vistas. 'City of lights', an earlier project of mine, was a first try at such scenes. The light scheme is almost the same too. Just love this lighting setup.
Technical
I started this project in c4d and vue, used some basic models, for futuristic looking buildings and modified them. Then i moved the objects into vue and arranged the scene. Quite some work went into the setup there, where to place what, and so on. Also, a very important thing, was the lighting of the scene. As usual i did go for the drama... a backlit situation with some cool contrast going on. I don't even know anymore how long it took too render. Something like 15hrs to render the base picture. Rendered several times until i got it right. In photoshop i added the lights, windows and atmosphere. And i tell you people... i'm done with lights and windows for now. You can be assured that 85% of the lights in there... are placed and revised by hand. A lot of precision work went into that stage. Also altered the buildings with details to make them look not too uniform. Long story short a lot of work went into this. Basically worked on it since february. With longer breaks though.

EPICA by `tigaer is AMAZING. There is a ton of little details to take in! The colors and realism is to die for. Outstanding work from a very talented artist! (Featured by `cosmosue)
Really brilliant. Been quite a while since we've seen one of your futururistic cityscapes, and they've always been my favourites amongst your pieces, they're what lead me to you in the first place. Excellent to see.

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
