Excitement by tigaer Excitement by tigaer
"Do you get that feeling too? That feeling of excitement when you know the next day will be great because you'll be off into the holidays with the family or something? Now this here is different. The last 10yrs i'm saving up for this special moment. To leave this place and start over somewhere else. This is the first step of my endeavour and i'm so excited!"

Ok fair enough try something different but this washed out look(cut out filter someone mentioned above) is not rocking my world your talent has always been in detail and the suggestion of detail

yup cut filter. it's a quick pic. i need to get away from the overly detailed work. first of all it takes far too much time to do and secondly no one is ever seeing the true detail if there's not a 20x30inch print in front of their eyes. and people rarely buy prints. ;p so there have to be 'cuts' here and there. =D

Very cool, I've kinda dumped my Luminarium idea, don't have time for it among my previous commitments :hmm: But I'm looking forward to seeing its results.

I wonder how you got the details on the buildings, like those squared areas of pipes and stuff, sinc in some ways it looks 3D, in others kinda painted =p

i used some models here so mostly it is 3d with a few extra touches in photoshop. needed to get these pics done fast so i also worked with filters a lot to get a certain look. and for some reason it's a sacrilege to use filters... reading some comments here. i don't care. =D the pics got the look i wanted and that's important.

Ahh cool, I was kinda hoping they were 3D models, as I was like "nuh-uh, he didn't become that pro at digital painting that quickly! :shakefist:"

There's a stigma attached to photoshop filters, probably most of the time the work they're used on does look terribly unprofessional. But that's not to say they are completely useless to someone who knows how to use them within reason :)

Not sure bout the cutout filter you've dropped on the image, but the composition and concept look sound.

well... i wanted the pic to have a certain look and that filter was the way to go for me. i personally like it to play with filters to achieve a certain look. especially when it's pics that need to get done fast. so it all maintains a concept arty look. i don't care if someone said that using certain filters is a no go. it's there... use it. average joe doesn't give a ... how it's made. as long as it looks appealing. but that's just my personal point of view.

hey... that would be a nice poll topic. =D let's see what people say. i'm curious now.

I've no problem with the use of filters per sť, as priteeboy mentions: "that's not to say they are completely useless to someone who knows how to use them within reason." I've also used filters in the past to shorten the process of creating images/portfolio pages (during my uni years). Here, however, I think it's just a bit too much, a little bit too indicative of the filter used. I would've liked to see it toned down a bit, so that it still serves its purpose of covering over the cracks but not so much that its obvious what filter has been used.

I actually find the Paint Daubs filter useful as an alternative to traditional sharpening, helps fill in some of the details in a painting. Also, Film Grain has quite a unique blooming effect that, again, helps fill in some detail and give a piece a unified look.

well... these are the single pics and the thing i'll submit to your group is the complete series of pics (which i'm still working on). so i thought it's ok to submit these as single ones. anyway... will leave these online, remove vital info, and stop submitting more.
