The Legacy

My first painting in 2008. After a few more quiet settings in my paintings I had to create an ‘action’ piece for my portfolio. A painting which contains some eyecatching elements. Generally I would say this painting was not a planned one. It evolved while I played with it. The longer I worked on it the more detail I explored within the picture. I constantly got ideas on how to make it even more interesting. I guess you could interpret this painting as a recapitulation of my last years experience, just in case you want to have an explanation of a deeper meaning in this painting. In the end, once again, I worked too long on it. But the overall result is satisfying. It’s a nice addition to my collection… and very different to my usual works so far.

Technique wise I worked with a matte painting mixture again. I would settle the pic more into "paintings" though. It is worked out very rough since I wanted a concept art like look. The new thing I tried in this painting was to use filters. A lot of filters. Mainly to create a certain kind of look for the brush strokes and other elements like textures. I still have to work on that technique and I think it will help me with a few things in the future. To add interesting foliage i used vuedesprit to create some stand ins.

PS: 2 Days ago i even dreamed of a meteor crashing down on earth. That was the most weird dream i ever had... but that's a different story.

Holy crap. This is just like a replica of the scene I depicted in my latest books, Raptus. It's a scene of space debris falling through the atmosphere and crashing into lush jungles. Stunning pic.

To me it looks more like a spacecraft coming to a bad crash landing somewhere in the Southern Pacific...maybe this is going to be the only way we humans will be able to obtain the missing technology we need to be able to live a future portray by Hollywood quicker X3

A Spacecraft the size of 10 Football fields crashes and parts of it are scattered in a 200 mile square radius that 5 years later we get to see flying cars, technological marvels unleashed, new source of GREENER fuel, healthier good tasting food, the cure to many unsolved illness and diseases and even a new species of critters that alter the face of this world and eventually by 2050 the Moon will be completely colonize as well as Mars <3 as well as by then about 30 other races from across the galaxy finally moved in after the first spaceport is build 30 miles above the North Pole :3

WOW That is so amazing! For my opinion, its even look like Tiberium astroids that entered the planets atmosphere and hit one near Tiber River where Italy has taken place (Command & Conquer: Tiberium Reference.) You have the amazing picture ever!

Is there a backstory to this piece or did it just come to your mind?

You seem to be the only artist that pulls off such saturated colors so well. Very intriguing. I generally tend to stay away from filters but this has me thinking otherwise. If you dont mind me asking, which ones did you use?

Faved...;)
