Terragen - The Journey by tigaer Terragen - The Journey by tigaer proudly presents: terragen - the journey to the house at the end of the world

i got the idea of the title while working on this pic. the title leans on a book i have finished reading the last days: the redemption of althalus by david & leigh eddings. very good book, like it a lot. the pic itself developed while working on a different pic. while trying different methods, texturing etc etc i discovered an idea and the result can be seen here. it could be possible that some, not much, elements of the pic can be seen in my upcoming piece too - if i ever finish it, will be another challenge for me.

what i love on this pic is the intense deep atmosphere. it might appear too dark - but that's intended. what you see behind the trees is the end of the world... at least for the eye. :) not the end in an apocalyptic way... just the end of earth, for someone who thinks the earth is a disc or so. :)

(FULLVIEW to dive into the atmosphere)

happy viewing...

ps: pic is not made for a realistic as possible look... it's a fantasy pic.

Hey... i've had this as my desktop for a week now and i can't figure out... that IS supposed to be an explosion as the light source right? i can't tell if thats what it is, or if you just have really overly dramatic light coming through the clouds...
tigaer Featured By Owner May 7, 2005  Professional Digital Artist
that's no explosion... it's a usual sun breaking through multiple layers of clouds. :)

Wow, I really love your shots.. Definatley a +fav, very eye catching. ^__^ [I must of sat here for a good 10 min just staring at it before I decided to comment on it XD] Very nice.

I like this one. The large mountain on the right, however, is kind of pressed into the clouds in a way I can't make sense of. Gives a very flat feel to the entire picture.

Ive always loved the notion of thge end of the earth that was espoused in redemption of althalus - youve captured it magnificently...

That's very beautiful! You're photography is very rich in color  This is a very wonderful capture, though. I love the golden clouds.
I was wondering... since you're a 'gallery director' if you'd take a browse through mine. I had a mean comment from one or two of the past days and it's making me loose faith in my passion for photography. The comment basically stated that I had no diversity... *shrug* And they said a few would've been enough of that type of picture. I just wanted to know if it was true and that all of my 'new' photography is cloned from the next.
Please help me, I need to know if I am to give it up now. I've been so heavily discouraged by this persons comment... :raincloud:

this is no photography... it's a mixture of various medias... like 3d rendered scenery, photography, manipulation.

Forgive my late comment. This is probably the most compelling shot I've seen in a long time. The use of shadows, lighting and colors is awesome. I love the screens and transparencies. I interpret this as almost heavenly...I hope heaven is half as beautiful as this image.

Great work.

this isn't a photo. it's a very heavy manipulation with photography and cg. =) - thank you

You never cease to amaze my friend - I totally love this one. Your combination renders take my breath away. Keep in touch man, sorry I have been gone so long. Real life has been very very busy as of late (but I now have a 3GHz PC with 1GB of Ram at work :) ) Now if only I could get one for home ;)

Keep in touch buddy

the render combination times are over. ;) now i implement a lot of photography and do lots of manipulations within the pieces. ;) - thanks. :)

Whoa! I just downloaded Terragen and was looking for some sceneries created with it's help. And completely overwhelming!

Can you model trees too in Terragen?! Or is it a photomanip?Either way, this one is going into my :+fav: list.

tigaer Featured By Owner Jun 26, 2004  Professional Digital Artist
what you see in this pic is a massive manipulation of a terragen render. honestly there's nothing much to see from the original render. terragen can create damn nice things... but not what you see in this pic. - thank you. :)
